A Week In Their Spare Time On eBay…”

Making Money On Ebay Is Not Always As Easy As They Claim.
FACT: Selling on eBay can be frustrating, complicated and an incredible
waste of time, money and effort.

Worst of all...purchasing some of the many "how to make money on
eBay" books can be a complete waste of money!

But it doesn't need to be like that.

FACT: Many eBay Power Sellers are earning $5000 - $10,000 per month
and more. Despite what you've heard, this is NOT "Rocket Science" stuff
- you just need to know the right way to go about it.
So, before you do anything, read my 26 useful tips for selling on eBay.

Tip #1

Firstly, decide what to sell on Ebay. If you are starting off, begin by selling an
item you know something about. If you're into model trains, sell something related
to that; if its baby clothing, sell that; if you're into fishing, sell fishing accessories,
and so on.

If you are interested in a particular subject, hobby or sport then it makes sense
that other ebay users will be too.

Tip #2

Do some research before you list on ebay. The most effective way to get the
highest price on ebay is to know your market.

Before you list your item to sell on ebay, perform a quick, title-only search on
ebay for products similar to your own.

Tip #3

Get the basics right. Before you even start making sales, you need to have the
attitude of "treating your eBay customers like you would treat a guest in your
home." Be courteous and understanding. People are more inclined to do
business with you again if they receive a pleasant, helpful response from you. Be
willing to help them when there are problems and don't always try an extract
every last cent from them. Customers are not stupid and will resent being taken
advantage of.

Now that you've got that, let's now look at how you can make some sales.

Tip #4

Around 65% of eBay buyers use the eBay search box when looking for items.
That's why it is so important to use keywords in your listing title (headline) and
description. Ebay allows 55 characters in the title so include important keywords
such as the brand, model number, size and color.

Tip #5

One of the main reasons for negative feedback is overcharging for shipping.
Avoid negative feedback be reasonable with customers.

Tip #6

Always provide good, useful information in your ebay listing. When creating your
ebay listings, provide a complete and specific item description. You cannot
over-describe your item. But remember, ebay is not a place for cryptic classified
ads. Abbreviations are not usually advisable in ebay listings. There's no limit to
the amount of useful information you can provide, so give as much information
as you can, but keep in mind that your ebay listing is not a place for advertising
hype.

Tip #7

There is an old saying "a picture is worth a thousand words", and it is true. As an
Ebay seller you should always include at least one photograph. Photos sell
products!

Tip #8

Use accurate headings in your ebay listing. Your ebay product heading should
be descriptive and not a gimmick or marketing ploy. Ebay buyers get really
annoyed at heading's like: @@@@ BE QUICK !!!!BARGAIN!!LOOK HERE !!!!
@@@@

Treat your perspective bidders (customers) as having at least some level of
intelligence and will get you more bids. People want to know what you are selling
and don't want you to mislead them or waste their time.

When you write your title, don't use all CAPITAL LETTERS. Uppercase and
lowercase letters are easier to read and will help people quickly see what you're
selling.

Easily Get A Positive
Feedback Rating

essential for long term success

normally buy from Walmart),
and prove you are a reliable
person to deal with.

feedback and others will
reward you with positive
feedback. If the other person
doesn't post feedback, send

When you have a new product

Don't waste their time and
annoy them by advising them

Tip #9

Use complete, accurate and honest descriptions in your
ebay listings. A clear simple description is always best.
Be honest if the product was used, how much used?
Avoid anything that might in any way be termed as being
'deceptive'.

Tip #10

Check the spelling in your ebay listings carefully. Ebay
selling success relies almost entirely on the likelihood of
your product being found in searches...and to a lesser
extent ebay's category listings. Ebay searches are
seeded by the words you place in your eBay auction
titles, so include as many relevant keywords as possible
without wasting space with unnecessary punctuation.
Use words and terms that a customer might use when
searching.
Tip #11

Make your ebay listings stand out. Color can make your ebay listings stand out from the crowd. It can make it
more inviting and more professional looking. Use color and design to help emphasize important details in the
auction description. Make your ebay listing clear, simple, informative and attractive.

Tip #12

Feed the ebay bidding frenzy. Sometimes you can feed an ebay bidding frenzy on your ebay item by using a low
opening bidding price and no reserve, which should attract more ebay bidders at the outset. The more people
bidding on your ebay listing, the more likely that two or more of them will get drawn into a personal bidding war.
At that point, winning the item becomes almost as important as the product they want to buy, and these ebay
bidders might eventually pay more than they intended to pay to beat out the competition. This can lead to the
ebay seller getting much more for the product than they expected.

Tip #13

When selling on ebay provide prompt, punctual and courteous responses to any questions from customers or
potential customers. People are more inclined to do business with you again if they receive a pleasant, helpful
response from you.

Tip #14

Once the ebay auction has closed and the sale is confirmed, you should promptly respond using the eBay
Check-out system. Provide buyers with an invoice with their total due including shipping (which you can calculate
using eBay's shipping rate calculator).
Tip #15

Clearly list the terms and
conditions of your eBay sale.
Include details of shipping,
returns, warranty and
guarantee policies. You can
use an existing template to
help separate the terms and
conditions into sections and
highlight them with bullet
points, so ebay buyers can
read them easily.
Tip #16

Remain focused on your
objectives. Sometimes the
purpose of the auction is
to simply dispose of an
unwanted item at any
price. For the pro sellers
the objective is usually
profit. Just because you're
moving merchandise on
eBay doesn't mean you're
making a profit. For pro
sellers it's important to
know your breakeven
point and minimum
acceptable profit level. If
you can't sell an item with
enough of a profit margin,
it's probably not worth
your time and effort to sell
that item.

Tip #17

Choose the best time to sell your product on ebay. Before you place a listing, consider the best times for
starting and ending an auction for your particular product. For example, if you had Christmas Tree to sell,
when would be the best time to end your eBay auction? Late November... early December... a few days before
December 25? Timing can be important keeping in mind that you will need to allow enough time to ship your
product to your buyers.

If you're working in a niche area, pay attention to the days and times your ebay listings do the best. Some days
and times will be better than others. Keep an ebay listing schedule and stick to it. Your regular ebay clients will
learn when you list products, and you will get much better results from your ebay listings.

Tip #18

Remain flexible. If an ebay product isn't selling as well as it once did, take a look at your title, description and
photos to see if they can be freshened up.

Tip #19

As soon as the buyer has paid, promptly arrange for shipping. Make sure you pack the item securely.

Tip #20

If you selling lots of items on ebay then you might need to organize your time carefully for maximum efficiency
and to avoid making mistakes. Have a regular shipping day or days. State those dates in your ebay listings so
people know when to expect their packages.

Tip #21

After making your eBay sale promptly confirm the shipping details. Send an email saying, "I sent your item
today via Priority mail. I hope you enjoy it." Also add a comment in your email like, "I would appreciate any
positive ebay feedback you may want to leave and I plan to do the same for you as well."

Tip #22

Communicate as soon as possible with all buyers who e-mail you. If you make a mistake and something's not
sent when it should have been, let the customer know the truth. Don't ignore questions or complaints.

Tip #23

Be reasonable with shipping and handling costs. Treat people, as you would expect to be treated. Shipping
and handling costs often make the difference for buyers choosing between your ebay listing and the
competition's. One sure way to get buyers to move on to another ebay listing is to bait them with a low price
and then spring excessive shipping and handling costs on them.

Tip #24

Send the merchandise only after you have received payment for your eBay auction item, even if it’s from a
friend or family member. Source
wholesale dropship products to sell on eBay.

Tip #25

Efficiency counts. It's free to schedule courier pickups through the USPS web site, and your regular mail carrier
will come to get your packages. All you have to do is pay the postage, and you won't have to wait in long lines
at the post office. You can even insure the packages without having to go through a lot of hassles.

Tip #26

Scrutinize the most successful ebay sales and see how the ebay sellers have described and promoted their
products in order to earn top dollar.

As an Ebay seller you can sell as many or as few items as you want (as long as you have a supply of low-cost
products). Selling on eBay can provide a full-time income or simply be a fun money making hobby. Many ebay
sellers keep their day job and sell on eBay in the evenings and on the weekends.
